The Beach

Manhattan Beach is famous for its beautiful beach. Manhattan Beach's waves usually range from 3-5 feet.  Manhattan Beach's sand is so popular they shipped sand from Manhattan all the way to Wakiki Beach in Hawaii.  The beach is about 400 feet wide and 2 miles long. The beach has volleyball courts every couple of streets for locals and tourists to play whenever they please. The beach also has showers located next to the volleyball courts. Just up from the beach are local bathrooms located every so streets and multiple showers.

Fireworks

Manhattan Beach holds an annual Holiday Fireworks show every December. This event is filled with fun activities for kids such as the snow park! This snow park has 5 sled runs, 2 snow play areas and a snowman for family photos. The fireworks take place on the Manhattan Beach pier and last about 15 minutes. On the pier is music for all to hear and an orchestra. Throughout the day families will come and set down blankets and chairs along Manhattan Beach Blvd to save seats for the night.

Neighborhoods

Manhattan Beach's neighborhoods can be divided into "sections". These sections are called, the sand section, tree section, hill section, the village, and east manhattan. The Hill Section is known for its steep hills and panoramic views of the town and beach. The Sand Section is known for its walk streets and oceanfront views and also the easy access to the bike path and strand. Manhattan Beach is surrounded by hundreds of multimillion dollar homes.

Boutiques

Manhattan Beach is filled with many little boutiques. A couple of Manhattans popular boutiques are The Beehive, Blvd, Cami, Allison by the Beach and many more. These small boutiques are known for their great staff who become very social when it comes to a new customer. These small shops are located right along Manhattan Beach's downtown area. Most of these boutiques may be expensive but very great quality and worth it.

Metlox

Metlox is located in downtown Manhattan Beach, which is filled with restaurants and shopping. Shade hotel, which is located in Metlox is Manhattan's new 4 1/2 star hotel. Metlox has underground parking which can be used for the beach or just for spending a nice day downtown. Metlox is surrounded with many known name brands for shopping such as True Religion or American Apparel. Along with shopping Metlox has many great restaurants such as Petros, La Pain, or Lemonade.

Manhattan Beach Creamery

Manhattan Beach is filled with many local ice cream parlors. But Manhattan's Creamery which is located downtown is a cute, fun ice cream and candy shop for a hot day. Manhattan Beach Creamery is only 2 blocks from the beach, which is good after a nice day at the beach. This creamery has a vintage feeling, with old popcorn machines and booth-like chairs for sitting. Manhattan Beach Creamery has been in business since 2002, full filling costumers with loads of sweets and desserts.

Weather

The weather in Manhattan Beach ranges from 50-90 degrees yearly. June, July and August have been Manhattan Beaches most hot months, which can reach up to 90 degrees. Even in winter, when most other places get their coldest temperatures, it's still hot enough to go to the beach. Usually Manhattans hottest weather will occur in August. Manhattan Beach reached it's all time high of 110 degrees in 1963 and its low has been 27 degrees in 1949. The most rain Manhattan Beach usually receives is in February, which is mostly only a couple inches.

6 Man

Manhattan Beach is home of the 6-Man Volleyball Tournament. The 6-Man occurs every summer usually in early August at the Manhattan Beach Pier. This tournament is a way for a group of people to make a team of 6 to play against different teams, all while dressed in costume. This event can cause thousands of people to crowd the streets of downtown Manhattan Beach for this alcohol free event. The 6-Man volleyball tournament will take place this summer July 30th and 31st.

The Bike Path

The bike path is located right underneath the strand. The bike path is a place where you can skateboard, bike, or even rollerblade along the edge of the strand. The bike path is the best place to be to see a panoramic view of the beach. The bike path has also bike racks for parking your bike while you spend your day at the beach. The bike path is something that makes Manhattan Beach a very fun place if you have nothing to do.

The Strand

Manhattan Beach can also be known for the strand. The strand is a wide sidewalk running along the houses just up from the beach. The strand is known for civilians to go on walks or jogs and is allowed to pets. The Manhattan Beach strand is a little longer than 2 miles. The strand is expecially popular during the summer on fourth of July.

Downtown

Downtown Manhattan Beach is full of popular restaurants and stores located up and down Manhattan Beach Blvd. Metlox is also a popular area in downtown Manhattan that is great for families to hang out in. This wonderful area attracts tons of tourists every year. Downtown Manhattan Beach has many name brand stores such as Lucky Brand, Dianes, True Religion, and many more. These big brands lead hundreds of tourists to come through Manhattan Beach every weekend.


Middle School

Manhattan Beach's local middle school is called Manhattan Beach Middle School. 1300 Students attend this school from grades 6-8. This middle school has turned into a "paper free" school, where classrooms are filled with iPads for the students to work on and do their work on. Manhattan Beach Middle School is a great school filled with outside activities. MBMS offers an after school homework club, sports, and much more.

High School

Manhattan Beach's local high school is called Mira Costa High School. Here approximently 2000 students attend for grades 9-12. Mira Costa is the only high school in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District. Mira Costa goes above and beyond every year with their API score, which is currently 912. Mira Costa High School is a local high school for students mostly living in Manhattan or Hermosa Beach.

Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach is located in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County. It is know for beach volleyball, surfing, and its hot summer days. Manhattan Beach attracts many tourist who come and go throughout the year. Manhattan Beach is home to about 35,000 people. This small beach town runs along the west coast and pacific ocean.
